Plant Engineer

The Plant Engineer must possess the desire and ability to manage maintenance and repair for all areas of the plant. As a member of the team, the Plant Engineer will be a partner in the Operations Division. The Plant Engineer’s role is to supervise and coordinate all plant maintenance and personnel to ensure effective and efficient low cost plant operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (others may be assigned)

  • Design, implement, and maintain preventive as well as predictive maintenance programs
  • Oversee full wastewater treatment systems
  • Prepare and administer department budget within established guidelines for maintenance and repair of building and equipment
  • Manage all processes and equipment to meet state and federal compliance requirements (i.e. air permits, WWT discharge permits, OSHA safety standards, and more)
  • Maintain plant quality performance standards
  • Manage and direct an engineering staff and workforce
  • Facilities and fosters a teamwork-oriented philosophy
  • Responsible for all engineering department safety-related matters
  • Plan and oversee capital expenditure items, including equipment purchases, contracted labor, and in-house construction and fabrication projects
  • Provide necessary training to new and existing employees
  • Keep up on technological changes, such as retrofitting machinery to meet today’s new laws and efficiency standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Operations Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor level degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively as well as excellent time management skills
  • Strong understanding of machinery and equipment, with the ability to know when to assume responsibility and when to delegate
  • Strong commitment to quality and safety
  • Provide on and off-hour emergency response including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development and training

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly for the company CFO
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end financial reporting
  • Manage the accounts payable process and coordinate weekly check runs
  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Work closely with Human Resources regarding hiring practices, payroll, and benefit disbursement
  • Prepare cost analysis for all production items
  • Annually prepare the budget
  • Work with the CFO on company insurance policies and the annual process for health insurance
  • Coordinate with Sales to monitor contract deductions and deal management

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor level degree required
  • 5+ years experience required in a small business setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Bilingual preferred
